Are you enchanted by unicorns? A unicorn birthday party is just the way to capture some of their special magic! Here are some ideas for unicorn party games and crafts, decorations, invitations and more.

Unicorn Birthday Party Invitations

Sending great invitations by mail can make your guests feel special before the party even starts. You can either make your own unicorn party invitations or send pre-made cards. Here are some ideas for both options:

Pastel Unicorn Invitations -- Start with some heavy cardstock or construction paper in one of your party colors. Download a picture of a unicorn that you like from your computer, or have the guest of honor draw a unicorn and make copies for your invitations. Print your party information on the inside of your card, and add some accents of glitter glue for a magic touch. (You can also add some glitter to the envelope for an extra surprise.)
Toy Unicorn Invitations -- Purchase small plastic unicorn figurines for each of your guests. Write your party information on a decorative tag and attach it to each unicorn with ribbon. Add some fun unicorn party invitation wording, such as, "Join Us For an Enchanted Celebration at _______'s Unicorn Birthday Party!" Mail these in padded envelopes or hand deliver them for an invitation and party treat all in one.
Since this is a magical unicorn birthday party, why not ask your guests to come dressed as enchanted fairies, princesses, or princes!

**General Invitation Tips** -- If you choose to make your own invitations, don't forget to include the date, location, and time of your event. It's also helpful to put the host's name, RSVP by date, and either your phone number or email.

Unicorn Birthday Party Decorations

Turn your party space into a realm of enchantment with some great decorations. Any combination of pearly pink, lavender, green, white, and silver can come together nicely for a unicorn party color scheme. Incorporate these colors into your decor by mixing them up in your tableware, and also by using them in things such as balloons and streamers. There are also lots of amazing unicorn theme party supplies available to help you pull it all together. Here are some ideas to help get you started:

Set an Enchanted Table -- Anchor a bouquet of balloons to a pretty plush unicorn as a party centerpiece. Then sprinkle glitter or silver star confetti on the table for some magic fairy dust. You could also tie coordinating balloons with guests' names written on them to the back of each chair as colorful place setters.
Use Streamers to Make a Dreamy Canopy -- Surround your party in color by stretching streamers close together to cover your ceiling, putting an occasional twist here and there in each one. Or, make a fun table canopy by attaching streamers from the ceiling or light fixture in the center of your table to the walls surrounding the table so that they drape into a fanciful canopy.
Add Stars -- Stars can give your party that special, magical flash. You can hang sparkly silver stars from the ceiling at different heights with fishing line and sprinkle silver star confetti on your tabletop.
Create a Magical Atmosphere -- Hang twinkle lights for some mystical party ambience.

Unicorn Birthday Party Craft Ideas

Unicorn Tattoos and Face Paint -- Set up a face painting station at your party to transform your guests. You might enlist the help of an adult or older sibling for this.
Paint Unicorn Shoes -- Visit your local barn, blacksmith, or feed store and find some new or used horseshoes (or alternately, you might get wooden horseshoes at your local craft store). Before your party, clean them and spray paint them in fun colors. Then set them out with some glue, glitter, gems, ribbons, and acrylic paints and let your guests create a one-of-a-kind unicorn shoe keepsake.
Unicorn Suncatcher Craft -- Purchase some pre-made unicorn suncatcher craft kits and let your guests design their own colorful unicorns.

Unicorn Birthday Party Games

Ring the Unicorn Horn -- Decorate a cone with streamers or markers to look like a unicorn horn. Gather about 6 hoops that will fit over the top. Have your party guests take turns standing behind a line to see how many hoops they can toss over the unicorn's horn. (You could also play this game using a pre-made ring toss set.)
Unicorn Races -- Gather two or more stick horses and attach a unicorn horn made of rolled up paper to each (brooms work well for this too.) Have a good, old-fashioned relay race. Divide the children into two teams, set your course, and see which team can gallop off to victory!
Pin the Horn on the Unicorn -- You can either design your own game board for this, or purchase a pre-made unicorn party game from Celebrate Express. Give each child a paper unicorn horn, then one at a time, blindfold them, spin them around three times, and direct them towards a unicorn with a missing horn to see how close they can get to pinning him with theirs!
Have a Magical Treasure Hunt -- Before your party hide some small toy jewelry, chocolate coins, gems, small figurines of unicorns and fairies, or other "treasure" around your party area. Send your guests off on a quest to see what they can find.
Open a Unicorn Pinata -- A pinata can serve double duty as a party decoration and activity. If you don't want to break yours open, try finding one with a pull-string opening, or create your own pull-string pinata by cutting a hole into the pinata's bottom and attaching one ribbon with tape for each child to pull. Securely attach one of these ribbons to the bottom trapdoor of the pinata, and all the others more loosely to the structure of the unicorn, so that only one will make the bottom fall out.
Watch a Unicorn Movie - Need to quiet things down? Take a break with a movie about unicorns such as The Last Unicorn or Nico the Unicorn.

Unicorn Birthday Party Food

Bring the unicorn theme to your party table with some fun party foods. Here are some ideas:

A Healthy Horsey Snack Tray -- Include sliced apples, baby carrots, oatmeal granola bars
Unicorn Shaped Sandwiches -- Use a unicorn cookie cutter to shape some enchanting sandwiches.
Unicorn Horns -- A bowl of Bugles corn chips works well for this.
Unicorn Horn Ice Cream Treats -- Make these by filling sugar cones with a scoop of your favorite ice cream and turning them upside down on a plate to serve. Decorate the cones with colored icing to represent magically colored unicorn horns.
